A one-sentence post on...statement games

Pinkly, roundly and efficiently, Jesse made his point last night: the Litsch is back.

I'd just like to know where Jesse found an extra 3 or 4 MPH for his fastball. I think I saw a '91' on the gun last night.
It's making all the difference in the world.

Barring a more detailed view from the esteemed Jon Hale, I would guess that the extra few MPH is the 4-seam fastball that he never really threw before.

i've never heard of a guy going down to the minors to work on his 4-seamer. but, boy, am i glad he did it.

he's thrown 28 and 2/3 innings since he came back, and he's given up 3 earned runs. ridiculous.

hopefully shauny marcum can parlay his demotion into litsch-like results.

and fuck the twins.

I'm pretty sure Jesse could always hit 91 - 92 on the radar gun. At least I recall that not being an uncommon number earlier in the year for his starts.

I think what he was working on down in triple A was working in fastballs more (2 and 4 seamers) and not relying on his cutter so much.

I loved the sweep, but part of me would like to see both the Yankees and the Red Sox watching the post-season on TV with the rest of us.

Yeah, I'm a bitter, pudgy man.

I'm hoping for that too. If we can sweep the Sox in both of the remaining series and do some damage to the Yankees, we can do that. Wouldn't that be sweet?
